There has never been a better moment to play through Bg3 Patch 6 than now that Patch 6 is live. This is the first major update the game has received since BG3’s Patch 5 last November, most infamous for introducing the tough Honor hard mode. But while Patch 5 tried to find cruel and unusual ways to punish players, Patch 6 is all about love, post-Valentine’s release date. Still, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have something for those who prefer to spend their nights at camp alone.
However, a lot of players have already completed Baldur’s Gate, three months after it was first released. Some have even beaten him many times. However, with BG3’s responsiveness and variety of options, there’s always something fresh to discover again. There’s even more for returning players to enjoy as of Patch 6.
Bg3 patch 6: better Romances
Things got a lot darker in Baldur’s Gate 3: each romance character now has a variety of kiss animations that better reflect their personality. Asterion is more in demand, Gale is more beautiful, and Lae’zel is more passionate—so on and so on. Each time a player character asks for a kiss from their romantic partner, one of these animations will be randomly selected.
In addition, when it comes to romantic interactions, players can choose to give Shadowheart a hug in times of need or allow Gale to kiss their hand during a proposal. Kiss animations have been fixed for height-difference couples, so no more annoying delays while Karlach kneels and hugs her half-child. There’s even an extra kissing scene for Asterion that unfolds just after his climax. As steamy as it is, these animations can also create some awkward situations. No one wants to stick their tongue down Will’s throat, just inches away from his father.
Bg3 patch6 Party Comps
In Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s easy to get attached to a particular party composition. Whether a player likes how they work together or has a particular affinity for certain characters, they prefer a certain inner circle and are reluctant to mix things up. The above play regularly with other large multiplayer groups, and rarely get a chance to test out combinations of Origin companions.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 promotes experimenting with party comps more frequently: First of all, it makes switching members in and out of the party much faster by adding the option to remove one companion while adding another. As of Patch 6, players can also let their hirelings hang around camp, giving them access to a bottomless pool of class combinations.
Bg3 patch 6: Improvements in Quality-Of-Life
Baldur’s Gate 3 always has bugs, and at times, they can be incredibly frustrating. From broken quests to unusable attacks to a confusing interface, many things have made first-time players ditch the game altogether. As any good update should, Patch 6 includes bug fixes across the board. Vile can now turn his Repelling Blast on or off, Rebuke of the Mighty triggers a proper saving throw, and Shield Bash works.
The merchant’s menu is also easy to read, and items can be bought or sold from any character’s inventory without changing. Important items will be moved out of dismissed characters’ inventories as needed, and quests such as “The High Harper” and “Find the Missing Shipment” have received more specific repairs. If a player quits BG3 due to an annoying bug, it’s important to check back in to see if Patch 6 has fixed it.
Players Can Now Fight Vlaakith Alongside Lae’zel
Lae’zel’s story is highly changeable; she can choose different routes leading up to the big conflict based on how Tav treats her and how the plot develops. In one of these passages, Lazelle turns to the Gathian queen Valakath, riding a red dragon, to fight for her people’s freedom. In previous versions of the game, this was only a matter of Githianki. However, as of Patch 6, any character who has romanced Liesel in Baldur’s Gate 3 can fight with her. It’s a thrilling addition to Lae’zel’s subplot, and a worthwhile target for repeat players.
BG3 Patch 6: Making Bosses Harder
According to Lauren’s patch notes on Baldur’s Gate 3’s official website, the hardest boss fight in BG3 just got harder in Patch 6. In particular, several bosses now have new and improved legendary actions in Honor mode, including Dror Ragzlin, Kar’niss the Drider, and Shambling Mound.
But even at lower difficulty levels, bosses throughout the game have received balance tweaks that make them harder than ever. Catharic is also stronger in tact mode, the hags summoned by Aunt Ethel have more powerful spells in Act 3, and Cazador now summons lightning at Level 5. Those who have already beaten the game on Balanced are up for a replay on Tacticion or Honor mode, where they will get a completely different experience.
